Bartenders Dictionary
There are a lot of people already in the restaurant business and people with no experience just looking to make some extra money. Unfortunately enough, many people and students are uninformed of the ways how to get started in the bartending profession. The glitzy, glamorous excitement behind the bar is what draws an individual to step behind the bar and become a certified mixologist.
Many times, when people think about a bartender, their first thought is either someone like on Cheers, friendly, fun and someone that loves to chit chat with customers, or they might think of a really, hot chick or guy bartender, what a nice thought that is. You might have been to top hotel management schools to learn the secrets of drink recipes, but if you do not possess a pleasing personality, you are not likely to perceive the bar manager in the interview. All you need is a good research and planning and you can be ready to jump into a bartending job in less than a month. A Bartender is the person everyone wants to tell their problems too.
If they are not good enough and you do not sense happiness with all of your customers, then perhaps you need to consider replacing your bartender, maybe even replace that male bartender with a highly professional, skillful woman bartender. Regardless of which way you look at it, bartending is a rewarding job. A tap person used to working in pub style establishments may not know cocktails. You’ll become familiar with all the names and terms used everyday in bars around the country.
There are many standard courses offered by bartending schools. Always keep in mind what their drink of choice is and be prepared to offer them their preference. Make sure to mix the ingredients thoroughly. Post your resume in the top job sites on the internet to find a suitable job.
Anyone, male or female, can be a bartender. A bartender that constantly drops bottles or spills liquor everywhere will soon be an unemployed bartender. For example, the DJ can announce that the bartender will be giving out free shots to girls that will get on the bar and dance. A shift is anywhere from four to ten hours in length depending on where you work.
Your nails must be trimmed short and make sure to wash your hands in between drinks as much as possible. The words from the old song, quick with a joke and the light of a smoke, still apply to today’s bartenders. Inviting girls to dance on the bar will eventually bring guys to the bar to see the girls and they will most likely buy a few shots or a round of drinks and tip the hell out of you for getting the girls up on the bar. You would be amazed at how many resumes get thrown in the garbage because the applicant doesn't bother to even list relevant information.
In conclusion, bartending jobs are not as hard to get as it seems as long as you know what is important. In the more festive seasons and occasions, certain drinks are part of tradition.
